About Sarah

I have been a qualified therapist for almost 7 years. I started training as a therapist due to my own issues that were going on for me based on my experiences that had impacted my life. I found ways to cope and manage these issues and I now want to help others overcome and manage theirs.

I have gained my experience over the years working within a counselling charity and organisation. I have worked with clients in all areas of mental health conditions and issues, from anxiety to schizophrenia. I have lots of training in various areas of mental health problems and I continue to train and use research to customize what my clients are experiencing. I love helping people work through their issues and provide an environment to hold space for them.

I value human connection and I have a lot of empathy that I like to channel within my practice. It also helps me continuously learn about myself, which makes me feel that there is no hierarchy within my practice, just the acknowledgement that we are all human and sharing this space can be very powerful for healing.

I work from all different modalities and perspectives based on my clients needs. My clients are the experts of their lives and their goals for therapy (if they have one) is my top focus.

The Values Behind My Practice

ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

I have developed deep knowledge in supporting clients with anxiety and depression, both through professional training and my own lived experience. These conditions can show up in many different ways, which is why I focused on them from the very start of my career. I use tools and techniques that have helped me personally, while working with clients to understand how these feelings show up for them and how they can manage their experiences in healthier ways.

Areas of Expertise

AUTISM & ADHD

I have extensive experience supporting individuals and families living with Autism and ADHD, informed by both professional training and my own personal journey raising a neurodivergent child into adulthood. My in-depth study has strengthened my understanding of the complexities of neurodiversity and how uniquely it presents in each person. I help parents process their own experiences while also developing insight into how neurodivergence affects their child or themselves, creating space for greater understanding, compassion and support.

PTSD & STRESS RELATED ISSUES

I have a strong focus on supporting clients with PTSD and different levels of stress. I believe that processing memories and exploring experiences is essential for trauma healing. Stress and trauma - whether past or present - can deeply affect both the mind and body, and my study of trauma has helped me understand these impacts clearly. Through talking therapy, I provide a safe space to process these experiences, learn to manage stress, and develop healthier coping strategies. I have worked with many clients in this area and continue to expand my knowledge through ongoing CPD and specialist training.

COMPLEX MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

I have extensive experience working with clients facing more severe or complex mental health challenges, often alongside formal diagnoses. I use a range of therapeutic approaches to support each individual, meeting them exactly where they are and offering space to talk, offload and feel understood. Some clients come for occasional sessions until they feel safe and ready to begin deeper work, and I honour that pace by providing a calm, steady and non-judgemental environment.

PARENTING & CAREGIVER CHALLENGES

I work with parents and caregivers whose lives feel overwhelmed by the needs of others, offering a safe space to explore their experiences and the difficulties of finding time for self-care. I support them in accessing additional help where needed and understanding the emotional impact of their role. I also work with parents of older children or young adults who have committed offences, providing a non-judgemental space to talk openly about the stress, guilt and isolation they may be carrying.

RELATIONSHIP ISSUES

I support clients who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships, whether with partners, children, parents, friends or others. Relationship challenges can include communication breakdowns, emotional disconnection, imbalance or unresolved conflict. This work also involves exploring the relationship you have with yourself, helping you develop greater self-awareness, healthier boundaries and more fulfilling connections across all areas of your life.

BEREAVEMENT & CAREGIVER CHALLENGES

I have supported clients through bereavement both personally and professionally, offering space to move through the grieving process at their own pace. Grief is deeply individual, and I provide a non-judgemental environment where clients can share their experiences without pressure or collusion. I feel privileged to sit with someone in their grief, as listening to their journey is both meaningful and humbling. Together, we work on processing emotions, finding coping tools and remembering loved ones in ways that feels supportive.

STUDENT SUPERVISION

I have several years’ experience supervising student counsellors within an organisational setting, supporting them throughout their placements as they work toward qualification. Supervision provides a reflective, supportive space to explore client work, ethical considerations and professional development. I work within the BACP ethical framework and am currently completing further certification to offer safe, effective supervision within my private practice.

SERVICES

  • I offer one-to-one, in-person therapy in a safe and supportive environment where you can explore whatever is happening in your life. Sessions are grounded in unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuine, authentic communication to help you feel understood and valued.

  • I provide online sessions with the same level of safety, empathy and openness as face-to-face work. This flexible option allows you to explore your experiences and work towards your therapy goals from a space where you feel most comfortable.

  • For clients who find it difficult to attend sessions in person, I offer home visits where appropriate. This service is arranged following an assessment and can also support families who may benefit from therapeutic work within their home environment.

  • I provide supervision for both qualified counsellors and those in training, working within the ethical framework of the BACP. I can also supervise practitioners from other governing bodies, as long as they are familiar with their framework and any differences between the two.
